3 Steps to Home
Our approach to building sustainable children’s homes follows a three-step process:
- Purchase suitable land in the target community.
- Build a safe, modern children’s home.
- Launch a local business venture to ensure financial support.
The Kid Castle approach depends on a series of conditions that must be met in the target community if we are to be effective:
- Local Management:
Each Kid Castle International project is supported by a local board of directors which oversees managers and caregivers. - Sustainability:
Each location is partnered with a local business, designed around the surrounding market. The profits form this business will fund the ongoing needs of the project. - Minimized Fees:
The government fees and bureaucratic costs encountered while building a children’s home can be exorbitant. Ideal target communities are those in which local government can support the project and lawfully waive some of those fees. - Ongoing Education:
Critical to the success of any child in any country is their education. Nowhere is this more deficient than in developing countries. Kid Castle’s commitment to our kids includes facilitating ongoing education from grade school through university, through support, encouragement, and resources. - Lifelong Engagement:
From Kid Castle’s perspective, relationships are central to any successful endeavor. We do not want to merely reach for compassionate donors; our goal is to engage with the kids through in-person visits, video conferences, and pen pal relationships. A personal connection is a great way to show these children that we truly care for them, as well as a great way to see the work being done in the community as it unfolds.
If a community demonstrates a compatibility with the Kid Castle International strategy, we can evaluate further and begin to apply our three-step process to establish a children’s home.
